Telehealth

With the Covid-19 restrictions in place limiting in-person consultations, allied health providers such as osteopaths can offer online appointments to provide long-distance patient and clinician contact, care & advice. Telehealth provides a way of having an appointment with your health providers without seeing them in person
A  portion of a normal in-person appointment is spent discussing your case with us and in turn receiving advice and instructions on how to manage your particular injury or problem. This portion of the consultation can still be provided via systems like Telehealth.
Unlike traditional video calls held over platforms such as Zoom, Messenger or Google Meet, Telehealth consultations allows long-distance patient and clinician contact over secure encrypted systems to ensure patient privacy.
Using our online booking system you can make an appointment with our practitioners at a time convenient​ for you.

How should I prepare for my telehealth consult?

Once you have made your online booking your practitioner will email you with further details on how to access the Telehealth system. This email contains a web link and a code, simlair to a password, for you to enter the video chat. At the time of your appointment simply follow the link and enter the code.

 

1. Make sure you are in a comfortable and private place.
2. It's best if have a hands-free device. If you have a smart phone, find a way to prop it up so that you can move about.
3. Make sure that you have tested out your audio. You may need to have a set of earphones to hear well.
4. You may want to have a family/whānau member or friend with you. That’s fine – just tell the health professional when you join that they are there.
5. Write a list of what you want to talk about and have a pen and paper handy to write anything down if you need to.​
6. Make sure that there is no one else streaming information from linked-in devices while you are having your consult, eg, if someone is watching a video on the wi-fi network you are using, your video may be poor quality.

Will my information be secure and safe? 

Yes, the reason we use Telehealth instead of simply organising a normal video chat is to keep your information secure and safe. Your practitioner will treat the information you share with them in the same way as they normally would if you were to see them in person and they themselves will be in a private area to hold your consultation.

Is a Telehealth consultation covered by ACC?

As with a normal in-person consultation this depends on your presenting complaint but should your practitioner decide that your incident falls under ACC then your Telehealth consult is fully covered.

How much does it cost?

A Telehealth consultation is cheaper than a full in-person appointment. If your situation falls under ACC there will be no cost to you. Should your presentation fall outside of ACC our charges are;
$30.00 inc GST for a 30min consult
$45.00 inc GST for a 45min consult
If you are unsure we recommend booking an initial 30min consultation, should you require more time this can be organised with your practitioner for your following appointment.
