Cranio-sacral osteopathy sounds complicated but it isn’t.
Through massage of the scalp, skull and muscles surrounding the head, the osteopath releases deep muscular tension and resets the support system for the skull, which is one of the heaviest organs in the human body. Osteopathy in the cranial field is very common for headaches, neck and upper back pain – because the top of the spine is central to our nervous system, unexpected complaints can often be linked to an underlying imbalance in the muscles and bone alignments around the head. In a cranial examination, the osteopath will be feeling the slight movement of the bones, the way the membranes move, and the flow of the spinal fluid as it circulates around the brain. Most people feel very little as the process takes place, this is because the movement that is being felt is the actual rhythm of your own body and the Osteopath is working in harmony with this. It is also a particularly popular treatment for babies and children |
