MANDY MOON
Diploma of Osteopathy | Postgraduate Diploma in Canine & Equine Osteopathy
Mandy qualified from the iconic European school of Osteopathy (where she and Richard met), in 1988 and has been in private practice ever since. After working and gaining experience in 2 busy osteopathic practices she together with husband Richard set up Warkworth osteopathic clinic in 1991. It was only a short time before it was running at full capacity. Mandy has always been passionate about both learning and self development, particularly in the arena of grief resolution which has such a huge impact on so many lives and yet so often remains unaddressed – physically, emotionally or spiritually, even years after the event. She is also interested in post traumatic stress and it is this understanding that has led her to her work with animals.
In 1992 Mandy and Richard bought their own block of land and she was able to realise her dream of owning, riding, competing and breeding horses. Mandy has always treated her own animals, so in 1997 she completed her first ‘structured’ equine therapy learning, with Anna Monds in Hamilton who in many ways has been a pioneer of Equine Therapy in N.Z. She then took a sabbatical from ‘human’ practice and gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Canine/equine osteopathy through the UK based specialist osteopath Stuart McGregor – a fellow graduate of her own college.
Mandy continues to treat patients at WNT in Warkworth and in now in Wellsford – and will treat Horses at WNT’s own Equine facility on Kaipara Flats, or in their own paddock. Most recently Mandy has started co-designing a community based health programme especially for chronic pain sufferers.
